Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:No specific coursework is required for admission consideration. Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline:All applicants must present credentials that are the equivalent of the appropriate baccalaureate degree at Temple University. Statement of Goals:The Statement of Goals should be approximately 500-1,000 words in length and should indicate the applicant's goals and objectives for obtaining a master's degree in TESOL. The statement should also include the following elements: the applicant's specific interest in Temple’s program; her/his research goals; her/his future career goals; and her/his academic and research achievements. Standardized Test Scores:The GRE/MAT is required. It is expected that the scores will generally be at or above the 50th percentile.  Minimum TOEFL score  needed to be accepted:  100 iBT or 600 PBT. 
 Program RequirementsGeneral Program Requirements:Number of Didactic Credits Required Beyond the Baccalaureate:  30 Required Courses: Core Courses (18 s.h.)  TESL 8611:  Applied Language Study I   TESL 8612:  Applied Language Study II  TESL 8614:  Approaches to Teaching English Language Learners  TESL 8616:  Curriculum and Assessment in TESOL  TESL 8618:  Second Language Acquisition  TESL 8621:  Contexts for Teaching and Learning Language  Electives (12 s.h.) are determined in consultation with a faculty advisor. Internship:   No internship is required.  Language Examination:  No language examination is required.  Culminating Events:Comprehensive Examination: In order to take the comprehensive exam, the student must remain in good academic standing. Thus, the student cannot accumulate more than two grades below B- or one F and must maintain at least a 3.0 grade point average.

 About the Program The M.S. Ed. with a concentration in Teaching English as a Second Language (TESOL) is  viewed as a master teacher program providing teachers with an opportunity for advanced study.
