Admission Requirements and Deadlines
Application Deadline:

Complete applications received by the stated deadline are guaranteed a
decision for the upcoming semester. Applications received after the deadline are reviewed on a space-available basis. Time to decision is within 30 days of receipt of all required supporting materials, excluding
Summer.

Number Required: 2; see the Reference Report for Graduate Study.
From Whom: Letters of recommendation should be obtained from those who can provide
insight into the applicant's academic competence, at least one of which
should be authored by a supervisor.
Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:
No specific coursework is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline:
All applicants must present credentials that are the equivalent of the appropriate baccalaureate degree at Temple University.
Statement of Goals:
In the Statement of Goals, applicants should indicate their goals and
objectives for obtaining a master's degree. The statement should be
approximately 500-1,000 words in length and should include the following
elements: your specific interest in Temple’s program; your future
career goals; any job-related experiences that are relevant to the
program; and your academic and research achievements and interests.
Teachers may wish to explain how they hope the knowledge and skills acquired through graduate study will ultimately affect teaching and learning in their classrooms.
Standardized Test Scores:
Non-native speakers of English must submit scores for the TOEFL. The minimum TOEFL score needed to be accepted is
88 iBT or 575 PBT. Students who score between 88 and 100 iBT or between 575 and 600 PBT must take an English refresher
course.

Electives: Five elective courses taken within or outside the College of Education. Electives allow the student to tailor the degree to her/his needs and
interests. The student can devise her/his own program of study or pick a
concentration in such areas as Applied Behavior Analysis, Autism Endorsement, Instructional Technology, Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages, and Urban Education.
Students must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 to remain in good standing in the program.
Internship: No internship is required.
Language Examination: No language examination is required.
Culminating Events:
Capstone Course:
Students complete a program portfolio or program project as part of EDUC 8289: Capstone Seminar in Current Issues.

About the Program
The Master of Science in Education with a concentration in
Accomplished Teaching Program enables working teachers, both relatively
new practitioners and veterans, to develop new knowledge and to reflect
on and analyze their own practices in order to move their teaching to a
higher level. A combination of core courses and electives supports and
advances those who have chosen to make classroom teaching their
profession while allowing them to explore individual interests and
additional certifications. Courses are designed to meet the immediate
needs of students and to be directly applicable to students' home
schools and communities.
Time Limit for Degree Completion: 4 years

Some courses are offered online and at several off-campus locations in Bucks, Delaware, and Montgomery counties.
Full-Time/Part-Time Status:
Students are able to complete the degree program on a part-time basis (8 credit hours or less per semester) through classes offered after 4:30 p.m.

Non-Matriculated Student Policy:
Students may take up to, but not more than, 9 credits of
graduate study in the program before being admitted to the program. The
credits transfer into the program, if the student is admitted. Students completing certification courses before being admitted to the program are NOT guaranteed admission.

Assistantships are available but limited, and are generally offered to
