Workshop for Basic Scientists
Deadline Extended to May 15
The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) Research Institute has announced a call for applications for its inaugural Pediatric Translational Research Workshop (PTRW) for Basic Scientists. This program, scheduled for October 14-18, 2013, is a five-day, intensive learning experience designed to introduce early-career researchers to the principles and fundamental elements of pediatric translational research. By employing a combination of didactic presentations, lectures, and clinical experiences, PTRW aims to bridge the gap between bench research and the clinic.
Applicants must be enrolled at or employed by a local research institution and be such early-career researchers as:
- Pre-doctoral students (Ph.D. students in their fourth year or later of scholarly training)
- Postdoctoral fellows
- Early-career scientists (scientists within 5 years of the receipt of their doctoral degree)
Class size will be limited to 20 basic scientists in order to promote an interactive and open environment for all participants. Enrollment is competitive. Applications require a CV, statement of interest, and recommendation letters. More information and application instructions can be found at http://www.research.chop.edu/programs/ptrw. Participants who complete the program in its entirety will receive a certificate of participation.
The course agenda is available at http://www.research.chop.edu/programs/ptrw/courseinfo.php. The CHOP Office of Postdoctoral Affairs at postdocinfo@email.chop.edu can answer your general inquiries.
The application deadline is May 15, 2013 at 5:00pm ET.
