Completed applications are processed throughout the year as they are received. The Admissions Committee reviews no application until it is complete. International students who miss the December 15 deadline are required to submit to Temple University an evaluation of their transcript by an approved educational evaluation firm.

Letters of Reference:

Number Required: 2

From Whom: Letters of recommendation should be obtained from college/university faculty members familiar with academic competence and/or immediate work supervisor.

Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:

Any student who has not received, in the last six years, a business degree from an AACSB-accredited business school is required to take six foundation courses: Accounting, Economics, Finance, Statistics, Marketing, and Management Science / Operations Management prior to beginning the program in late August. These six courses are offered in a special condensed program the summer preceding admission to the program. The summer program lasts 12 weeks and begins in late May. Additionally, two years of work experience is highly recommended. The work does not need to be in a technology field.

Bachelor's Degree in Discipline/Related Discipline:

A baccalaureate degree is required.

Statement of Goals:

Applicants for the M.B.A. program are expected to submit a Statement of Goals that describes future goals in specific terms. Applicants should avoid use of generalizations or blanket statements. The Statement of Goals should address how the M.B.A. will assist in achieving the applicant's goals.

Standardized Test Scores:

The GMAT is required. Applicants to the M.B.A. program should ideally have attained a total GMAT score of 600 or higher. Applicants with GMAT scores below 550 are encouraged to re-take the GMAT examination.

Minimum TOEFL score needed to be accepted: 89 iBT or 575 PBT.

Resume:

A resume is required.

General Program Requirements:

Number of Didactic Credits Required Beyond the Baccalaureate: 68

Required Courses:

All courses in the M.B.A./M.S. in Information Technology Management program are required to be taken at the Fox School of Business and Management. This M.B.A./M.S. is a lock-step, cohort program. In addition to the 18 credits of required foundation courses and the 12 credits in Advanced Managerial Perspectives, students are required to take:

MIS 560: Information Technology Principles for Network-Centric Businesses

MIS 561: Information Systems Applications in Organizations

MIS 562: Database Management Systems and Data Modeling

MIS 563: Systems Analysis and Rapid Application Development

MIS 564: Interactive Site Design

MKTG 555: Electronic Supply Chain Management and e-Procurement

MKTG 556: Customer Behavior, Segmentation, Communication and Pricing

SGM 555: E-Commerce Entrepreneurial Start-up Project

All M.B.A./M.S. in Information Technology Management candidates are required to complete a summer integrative experience in the summer between the first and second year. The experience includes an internship, business plan incubator project, independent study, or faculty research.

Internship: Students are required to complete an integrative summer experience that can include an internship, development of a business plan, independent study, or a research project. The majority of students seek internships. Students are given numerous networking activities throughout the year to provide potential contacts for internships.

Language Examination: No language examination is required.

Additional Requirements:

EBZ 570 and EBZ 571 are one-credit courses for career and professional development that include corporate networking, e-Business breakfasts, speakers series, etc.

Culminating Events:

Capstone Course Sequence:

Students are required to successfully complete the capstone course sequence. The purpose of the capstone sequence is to ensure that M.B.A. candidates have mastered the skills necessary to conduct business analysis. The capstone sequence is graded in the normal manner by the instructor.

About the Program

The Fox School of Business and Management offers M.B.A. programs that help develop a solid understanding of business models created by the synergistic forces of globalization, entrepreneurship, and information technology. Our approach to graduate education is to develop practical expertise through case analyses and presentations, interaction with business practitioners, and team projects. The Fox School prepares students to step immediately into key management roles in highly specialized fields. The Fox School is the region's second largest business graduate school with over 1,300 students studying in 35 graduate business areas of concentration.

Interdisciplinary Study:

The M.B.A./M.S. in Information Technology Management combines courses in Management Information Systems and e-Business.

Research is supported by the Fox School of Business and Management's eBusiness Institute, the Center for e-Marketing, the Ethics Resource Center, the Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation, the Institute for Financial Services, the Institute of Global Management Studies, the Institute for Healthcare Management, the Safeguard Scientifics Center for Economic Education, and the Small Business Development Center. Research interests of the Fox School faculty are also supported by numerous centers and institutes throughout Temple University.

Accreditation:

All M.B.A. programs are accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business International (AACSB International), the association for management education.

Areas of Specialization:

The M.B.A./M.S. in Information Technology Management provides general graduate business courses as well as specialty courses in e-Business, e-Commerce, data management, network architecture, and entrepreneurship.

Job Placement:

Graduates of the Fox School of Business and Management obtain jobs in computer/information technology; consulting; consumer products and services; energy/utilities; financial services/banking; government; healthcare; industrial products and services; manufacturing; pharmaceuticals; telecommunications; and tourism/transportation.

Non-Matriculated Student Policy:

The M.B.A./M.S. in Information Technology Management program is a cohort program that takes two consecutive years to complete. Due to the cohort nature of the program, it cannot be begun as a non-matriculated student.

Financing Opportunities

The Fox School of Business and Management has a limited number of scholarships for students with high academic grades and test scores. Scholarships are offered at the time of acceptance into the Fox School.

The Fox School has a limited number of graduate externships for assignments in academic and administrative departments. Work assignments are generally administrative in nature and may include word and data processing. An extern provides up to 20 hours of service per week. Students are required to submit applications directly to the department in which they wish to be appointed.
