FOX SCHOOL OF BUSINESS AND MANAGEMENT

Admission Requirements and Deadlines
Application Deadline:

Fall: March 15

Spring: September 30

Completed applications are processed throughout the year as they are received. International students who miss the December 15 deadline are required to submit to Temple University an evaluation of their transcript by an approved educational evaluation firm.

From Whom: Letters of recommendation should come from college/university faculty members familiar with academic competence and/or immediate work supervisor

Coursework Required for Admission Consideration:

Students should have an undergraduate business degree. Students not adequately prepared for the advanced level may be required to take a number of M.B.A. core courses. The department offering the courses in the area of specialization will identify the core requirements on a case-by-case basis.

Statement of Goals:

The Statement of Goals should include a description of the applicant's career accomplishments, the career path chosen, and the way an M.S. degree will further the applicant's goals. The Statement of Goals should be limited to 2 pages and should avoid generalizations.

Standardized Test Scores:

The GRE/GMAT is required. Quantitative and verbal scores on the GRE should be in the 50th percentile or above. Scores under 550 on the GMAT are not considered acceptable for the MS program.

Minimum TOEFL score or range of scores needed to be accepted: 230 on the computerized exam or 575 on the paper exam. Students scoring less than 600 on the paper-based TOEFL or 250 on the computer-based TOEFL are required to take the SPEAK test and may be required to take an English course to improve communication skills.

Resume:

A resume is required.

Transfer Credit:

Upper-level graduate credits from an accredited graduate business program may be transferred into the M.S. program. The credits must be part of the required degree program at Temple University. To be transferred the grade must be a "B" or better. The Admissions Committee makes recommendations for transferring credits to the Chair of the Department. The maximum number of credits a student may transfer is 6.

The business foundation classes are offered at both campuses throughout the year but not necessarily during the same semester. Upper-level courses are not offered at all campuses. Courses are also offered online.

Full-Time/Part-Time Status:

Students are required to complete the degree program through classes offered after 4:30 p.m.

Foundation Courses: ACCT 401 Fundamentals of Accounting, ECON 403 Economic Analysis, FIN 401 Financial Management of Business, STAT 402 Statistical Analysis. Advanced Curriculum - Finance Electives (Choose six or seven of the following Finance Electives): FIN 501 Financial Markets, FIN 518 Options and Futures Markets, FIN 506 Management of Financial Institutions, FIN 521 Investment Management, FIN 510 Financial Analysis and Planning, FIN 535 International Financial Markets, FIN 511 Asset Management for Business, FIN 536 International Corporate Finance, FIN 512 Capital Structure of Business, FIN 566 Financing the Growth of New Economy Companies, FIN 515 Portfolio Theory and Capital Markets, FIN 598/99 Independent Study. Business Electives: Choose three or four 500-level Business Electives from Accounting, Economics, or Statistics.

Internship: No internship is required.

Language Examination: No language examination is required.

About the Program

The Fox School of Business and Management offers M.S. programs through which students acquire in-depth knowledge of one business discipline. These programs are ideally suited to the business professional who wishes to develop advanced mastery of one business specialization. Our approach to graduate education helps develop practical expertise through case analyses and presentations, interaction with business practitioners, and team projects. The Fox School prepares students to step immediately into key management roles in highly specialized fields. The Fox School is the region's second largest business graduate school, with over 1,300 students studying in 35 graduate business areas of concentration.

Non-Degree Student Policy:

Students with an undergraduate GPA of 3.0 or above may take classes on a non-matriculated status. Non-matriculated students can take a maximum of nine credit hours. Any additional courses require the student to be matriculated in a program.
